I try to forget her.
It’s impossible.

Growing up together, Conor and I shared all our firsts.
First love, first kiss, first…
Not all our firsts.

We were sixteen the night she was violently assaulted while I helplessly watched.
I’ll never forget the sounds of her suffering.
Or my inconsolable agony when she left Oklahoma.

Years later, she returns to honor our teenage pact.
Except the boy she loved is gone, replaced by a ruthless cattle rancher knotted with secrets.
She doesn’t know my dark cravings or the trails of sin that lead to her.

I don’t deserve her, but one truth remains.
She’s mine.

“We’re knotted together, and damn if he doesn’t know how to tie a knot that withstands the test of time”

All I knew about this book before I started reading it was that it was about Cowboys, it was dark and that it was written by one of my favorite authors, Pam Godwin. I do not like country Westerns or Cowboys - I don’t even like country music - but I love Pam so I gave it a shot and am SOOO glad I did!

“In our rural town of Sandbank, Oklahoma, population 415, there are no strangers. Everyone knows everyone, up close and personal”.
For 16 years, Conor lived an idyllic life, living on Julep Ranch with her brother Lorne, her boyfriend Jake, and Jake’s twin brother (her best friend) Jarret. These carefree, happy teens has no idea that there were, “trails of sin and corruption running beneath the ranch.”

On Conor’s 16th birthday, during what was supposed to be the most magical night of her life, she is savagely raped while Jake, Jarret and Lorne are forced to helplessly watch. What happens the next day is the opposite of predictable. Conor’s father suddenly moves her 928 miles away from the ranch, completely separating her from all 3 boys. Miserable, alone and with no explanation as to why, Conor suffers through 6 years before there are any joyful reunions....

“I regret the anguish I caused her, but I’m not sorry for the decisions I made. If I had to do it all again, I wouldn’t change a thing. I lost six years with her, but now we have a future. She’s alive because I broke her heart, and she’s going to stay alive while I put it back together.”

Pam Godwin’s writing is so rich in detail! I could practically hear the Southern drawls as the characters spoke to one another! I also experienced the roller coaster of emotions the characters went through. I literally felt pain in my heart and sick to my stomach while reading about Conor’s time away from the ranch but it was so worth it to read such an impactful story! KNOTTED is not only a beautiful, touching, moving love story but hidden beneath is a parallel story of deceit and lies that was completely unexpected. The way Godwin revealed each secret, addressed Conor’s PTSD and explained her exile was spectacular and surprising! Godwin has once again proven to be not only an incredibly eloquent writer but a master storyteller! I stayed up reading way, way, way too late into the night, unable to put this book down! I cannot wait to read the rest of the series!!!

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author, Pam Godwin, lives in the Midwest with her husband, their two children, and a foulmouthed parrot. When she ran away, she traveled fourteen countries across five continents, attended three universities, and married the vocalist of her favorite rock band.

Java, tobacco, and dark romance novels are her favorite indulgences, and might be considered more unhealthy than her aversion to sleeping, eating meat, and dolls with blinking eyes.
